- All certified Catechists and Teachers will renew their certification every five years following initial certification.
- Certified Catechists and Teachers can submit for renewal anytime during the academic year of expiration.
- At the time of renewal, the catechetical leader sends the appropriate records of formation and application to the Office of Catechesis.

The Archdiocese of Miami Office of Catechesis in partnership with Dayton University Virtual Learning Community for Faith Formation recognizes the following courses transferable to the Catechist Certification Program of the Archdiocese of Miami.

On-site Renewal Courses
The Archdiocese of Miami Office of Catechesis will offer the following courses for renewal:
Catholic Social Teaching
Study of Amoris Laetitia (Love in the Family)

Introduction to the Old Testament
Introduction to the New Testament

Ongoing Formation and Renewal Process
All certified catechists will renew their certification every five years following initial certification. Certified Parish Catechist are required to complete fifty hours of ongoing formation over a period of five years, ten hours in any curriculum area to renew their certification. Catholic school teachers are required to complete forty hours of ongoing formation. At the time of renewal, the catechetical leader sends the appropriate records of formation and applications.
Would attendance at the Catechetical Conference count towards renewal certification?
Yes. All Certified Catechists will receive renewal credit hours (10 hours) by attending and completing a reflection paper at the yearly Catechetical Conference. Applications will be available onsite at the Conference. Please, contact the Office of Catechesis for more information.
